Every season of features in its final episode, and fans have been speculating about who will end up dead and how since the third series of the show started airing. One recent theory has only been cemented by the trailer for the twisted drama's season finale.
Viewers have taken to social media to point out that a throwback to a scene the beginning of the series has been provided as a clue about who will be taken home in a body bag at the end of the show. When the Ratliff family first arrived at the White Lotus resort in Thailand, Timothy () was warned against picking the fruit from a particular species of tree as it is poisonous.

In the preview for episode eight, he can be seen returning to ask his family's personal assistant about the fruit. She responds: "Locals actually call it the suicide tree. So, don't eat it."
This was a huge hint to Now TV audiences, who know that Timothy has been considering killing not only himself but also his whole family ever since finding out that he will likely be arrested for financial crimes upon his return to the US.
The businessman has been grappling with his sudden loss of fortune and what that would mean for his future all season and seems to have come to the conclusion that he is better off dead than facing prison, or worse - poverty.
His wife has shared a similar sentiment, telling him that she doesn't "have the will" to live an uncomfortable life at her age. After this conversation, he went from fantasising about shooting himself to imagining gunning down his wife and kids too.
Unfortunately for Timothy, the gun he stole from security guard Gaitok has been rediscovered and returned to its rightful owner. So if he wants to kill himself and take his family with him, he will have to find another method. This is where the poisonous fruit comes in.
One White Lotus fan took to TikTok with her girlfriend's theory about the finale, saying: "Do we think the dad gets the fruit you're not supposed to have, the suicide fruit, and makes a smoothie with Saxon's blender and has the family drink it?"
However, other viewers have protested that if this is the twist, the trailer made it far too obvious. One person complained: "It would be insane to have the death be just directly given away in the trailer."
Another agreed: "Yeah, and everyone has been saying this since episode one." A third chimed in: "You’re late to the party. This theory has been on here for at least a couple of weeks."
Because the preview for episode eight made the poisoned fruit deaths such an obvious possibility, many fans think this is actually a red herring.
Some have suggested that rather than Timothy intentionally giving the smoothie to his family members, he will make a poisonous drink for himself, and one of his sons will find and drink it by accident. Others think the smoothie incident will not feature at all.
