The Voice UK fans fume over voting format change as 2024 winner revealed

The Voice UK final sparked outrage among viewers on Saturday night (October 26), with many fans picking fault with the format of the final.

During the final episode of the hit talent show, Deb Orah, Storry, Ava, Billy, and Louie all took to the stage as they fought it out to be crowned champions and win the ultimate cash prize.

The Voice coaches, Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes, as well as and Danny Jones, were also back in their chairs for the last time this series as they hoped to see their chosen finalist win.

In the end, McFly Band members Tom and Danny’s artist, Ava, impressed the judges and the studio audience and was crowned the winner of The Voice UK 2024.

She walked away with a recording deal with Universal, £50,000 cash prize, and a holiday to Universal Resort, Orlando.

She will join the succession of previous winners, including Leanne Mitchell, Molly Hocking, and Kevin Simm. However, viewers watching at home were not happy with the show's new format, which has removed the public vote and instead gives all the voting power to the studio audience.

Fans rushed straight to X, formerly known as , to share their reaction. One viewer wrote: “Despite it being a s*** format with no public vote, the right person won! Well done, Ava #TheVoiceUK.”

Another said, “@hlt_ja, Well, I’d have voted for Ava, but unfortunately, the viewing public can’t vote for the winner, so that’s that then #TheVoiceUK.”

A Third said: “I think the Public should vote on #TheVoiceUK, not the audience.” Meanwhile, one added: “@ITV, please can we have the live finals back, giving the public the vote @thevoiceuk #thevoiceuk.”

Meanwhile, other viewers were pleased that Ava won the competition. One said: “Finally fixed for the right person to win #TheVoiceUK.”

Another wrote: “I’m so happy that Ava won @thevoiceuk bless her and congratulations. And another added: “@TomFletcher and Danny for their first ever win as coaches! Maybe I’ll be on your team next year haha #TheVoiceUK”

Becky Hill is arguably The Voice UK's biggest success story. The 30-year-old joined Jessie J's team and reached the semi-final of the competition.

The star has gone on to collaborate with some of the world's biggest DJs, such as David Guetta, MK, Oliver Heldens, Joel Corry, and Wilkinson.
