Liverpool's fastest players this season are totally unexpected

Send Push

Liverpool's fastest players of the season so far have been revealed, and there is a surprise name in top spot in . Alexander-Arnold has clocked a top speed of 34.74km/h, making him the 17th fastest player in the Premier League so far this season.

The statistics, which were published by last weekend, showed that another defender, , is the second-fastest Reds defender this season, with the Dutchman having reached a top speed of 33.97km/h.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Ibrahima Konate are in third, fourth and fifth place respectively, having clocked speeds of 33.84km/h, 33.74km/h and 33.72km/h respectively.

Liverpool fans might have expected the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez to be at the top of the list, but they find themselves in seventh, 10th and 11th respectively.

It should be noted that not all players will have found themselves in a situation where they might be able to reach their top speed. Nunez is one of the quickest players at Liverpool but has not featured very often at all in the Premier League this season, so may not have had an adequate opportunity to sprint onto a through ball, for example. The same applies to winger Federico Chiesa, who made a name for himself in Italy with his blistering pace.

Liverpool players ranked by fastest PL speeds clocked this season
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold - 34.74km/h
  • Virgil van Dijk - 33.97km/h
  • Dominik Szoboszlai - 33.84km/h
  • Cody Gakpo - 33.74km/h

  • Ibrahima Konate - 33.72km/h

  • Ryan Gravenberch. - 33.67km/h

  • Mohamed Salah - 33.62 km/h

  • Conor Bradley - 33.33 km/h

  • Andy Robertson - 33.31 km/h

  • Luis Diaz - 33.29km/h

  • Curiously, despite all , he is in 15th position, ahead of five outfield teammates in Kostas Tsimikas, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott and Joe Gomez.

Of course, a few of those players have barely played in the Premier League this season so could well overtake Mac Allister as the season progresses, but there is something quite funny about Mac Allister's top speed beating Jones' top speed, considering the Liverpudlian midfielder claimed he could beat Mac Allister in a race while running backwards.
