Farmer and Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper has spoken out about prices at Jeremy Clarkson's pub after a backlash from fans.
The Farmer's Dog opened to the public on August 23 after Jeremy purchased the building Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire, earlier this year. After prospective punters queued for miles to get into the new watering hole many have slammed the cost of popping into the bar.
A pint of Hawkstone costs around £5.50 while food items range from a £5 sausage roll to £19 for a steak pie with mash and Hawkstone gravy. Customers can also purchase merchandise in the pub with a Hawkstone jumper costing £60, while other goods on offer include an apron for £40, a dog bowl for £35 and a bottle opener for £14.
After the prices were shared on Instagram one fan wrote: "Prices are ridiculous! Hawkstone lager actually tastes like dishwater. But I love Clarkson but to pay a millionaire these prices is ridiculous." Another agreed: "Really necessary to charge those prices for merch? Absolutely ripping people off because it’s on TV, it’s sick."
However, Kaleb has defended the costs telling Metro.co.uk: "I’ve spent a little time there. It’s fantastic, it’s great, it’s really just a good traditional pub with good food, highlighting the quality of British produce. I don’t think there’s any difference in prices to any other pub."

Meanwhile, Jeremy's money guy Charlie Ireland, has claimed that the prices are in fact highly competitive for the Cotswolds area they are based in. He said: "We aimed for a bit cheaper than the local area because the pubs are sort of renowned for high prices. We’ve tried to make it affordable for people."
The news comes after Jeremy shut down an attempt to discuss the business during a tv appearance on Good Morning Britain with his Grand Tour colleagues, James May and Richard Hammond. Jeremy was asked about the pub by showbiz reporter Richard Arnold, to which he simply replied: "Don't."
James could be heard asking: "It's making money, isn't it? And it's easy to run," but Jeremy was quick to dismiss that. "No. It's properly difficult. He said not to get one. He said I've got one, don't get one and I got one. James Blunt also told me not to get one, Guy Ritchie told me not to get one," he said of his celebrity pals who had warned him it wasn't a good idea.
Over the weekend, Jeremy wrote in The Times that he was losing a whopping £10 per customer. He shared: "I do ask, if you drop by, to remember this. Your lunch, if it arrives at all, is costing us a lot more than it's costing you - so please be kind. I asked an AI program to work out what the average price of lunch in a Cotswolds pub is and just charged that. It’s possible that for every customer who comes through the door I’d lose about £10."
