Jurrien Timber sends Premier League title warning to Arsenal teammates

Jurrien Timber insisted Arsenal must remain grounded following their seventh successive triumph, which extended their advantage at the Premier League summit.

The Gunners appear to be in relentless form and they took full advantage of a weekend that saw Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea all stumble by claiming a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace to strengthen their position as current title favourites.

Arsenal now sit four points clear of second-placed Bournemouth and boast a six-point cushion over City. Reigning champions Liverpool have slipped seven points behind in the championship chase.

Arsenal's triumph against Palace concluded a week in which they secured their third consecutive Champions League victory following a comprehensive 4-0 demolition of Atletico Madrid.

However, Timber cautioned: "It is good to stay neutral, and not to get too high. Obviously, we've been doing well, but it's still early in the season, and we just have to keep getting better game by game.

"The next game is already in three days, which is a (Carabao) Cup match (against Brighton), and the next Premier League game (against Burnley) is going to be tough as well.

"So, let's keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard, and then from there, we'll see what happens."

Arsenal's quest to secure their first league crown in 22 years has been founded upon an extraordinary defensive record which has conceded merely three goals, with only one from open play, across their 13 matches in all competitions.

Arsenal's clean sheet against Palace marked their fifth consecutive shutout. Timber went on to say: "Everyone plays a part in it, but it's a good thing and a good foundation to build on.

"From that standard, you just have to keep getting better and be consistent in what we do, and then throughout the whole season, hopefully we'll turn it into something beautiful.

"It gives you confidence and it shows that we're doing really well, and also, if it's for multiple games in a row, it says something about consistency.

"We just have to keep improving, and look at what we can do better, but also take that feeling with you, that confidence and go into the next game with the same mindset."

Mikel Arteta is waiting for updates on knocks picked up by William Saliba, Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori during their most recent victory.

The trio are doubtful to feature in Arsenal's upcoming fixture – a fourth-round Carabao Cup clash with Brighton at the Emirates on Wednesday – before Arteta's side resume Premier League duties with a journey to take on Burnley on Saturday.
