ITV announces brand-new game show with former Bake Off star as host

ITV has teamed up with toy giant Mattel to bring a fresh game show to TV screens later this year, inspired by the much-loved drawing game Pictionary.

The show promises quick sketches and belly laughs across 25 episodes as two teams battle it out in the ultimate doodle duel.

Former Bake Off favourite Mel Giedroyc will be at the helm of the new series, joined by celebrity team captains who will guide their squads in sketching their way towards an amazing prize.

Contestants will need to draw their best interpretations of various words or phrases to score points and inch closer to victory.

Mel Giedroyc, 56, is buzzing about her role as host, saying: "Everyone is familiar with Pictionary, and I am so excited to help bring the game to life on television. It is such a pleasure to be a part of and I know people will love the show."

The series is set to kick off in December with a festive special, followed by 24 more episodes that are sure to keep viewers entertained.

While Pictionary is making its UK debut, it's already a hit in the US, where it's been entertaining audiences since 2022 and is now in its third season, reports .

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's Director of Entertainment and Daytime, echoed Mel's enthusiasm about introducing the game show to British fans.

She enthused: "I am thrilled we are bringing this much-loved game show to the UK. It's perfect for all the family to enjoy and play along at home.

"With Mel Giedroyc at the helm, 'Pictionary' is in the hands of a 'true' entertainer. Her infectious energy and quick wit make her the perfect choice to host the show."

TV veteran Mel Giedroyc was co-hosting with Sue Perkins up until 2016.

The telly duo waved goodbye to Bake Off when it switched from One to , with Mary Berry also leaving.

With a new shake-up, fans saw , Sandi Toksvig join the programme before Sandi left and Matt Lucas took over. In 2020, Matt left and This Morning's has been co-hosting with Noel ever since.
