When it comes to autumn weddings, there’s one problem that rears its head for all of us – what to wear to stay warm. Even once you’ve chosen your final outfit for the day, the question of which coat or jacket looks smart enough to suit the occasion whilst still keeping you warm can be a tricky one to answer.

One of the main reasons the was a great choice was because of its shape. The boxy, hip-length fit, rounded neckline and curved hems made sure it looked elegant and smart. Its light brown colour was also a big bonus; it was autumnal and matched our dresses (rust coloured, in case you were wondering) so it looked intentional, rather than an afterthought.

It was also incredibly warm thanks to the , which kept me cosy without making me sweat – very important in a satin dress – and the zip fastening meant it hung nicely even when it wasn’t fastened. The open patch pockets on the front were also handy for keeping things like my wallet, lipstick and, of course, tissues to hand.

It’s also worth mentioning that it comes in a really diverse range of sizes, from a UK10 to a UK 32, and you can also pick it up in a if that’s more your style. I’ve also spotted some other lovely alternatives around that would fit the bill just as well.

Over at Roman, you can get this in either beige or black for £75. It has a similar look to my Simply Be jacket but is longer and has a collared neckline instead of a rounded one.

Alternatively, Debenhams has the also for £75, which also has a boxy fit and length, with a high neckline and button fastenings up the front. It has faux-leather details, including seamed edges and tabs under the buttons, which give it a more expensive look.
