Chelsea have been held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in their first match of the new Premier League season.
Palace thought they took the lead early on when Eberechi Eze smashed a free-kick past Robert Sanchez. VAR intervened, though, and it was disallowed with Marc Guehi less than one metre away from the Chelsea wall.
The Blues pushed for a goal but were ultimately left frustrated by some resolute defending from the visiting Eagles, who were a constant threat on the break. Four changes were made in the second-half but there was not enough out there to find the decisive goal.
Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players out of 10.
Robert Sanchez - 6
Made a decent stop on Jean-Philippe Mateta in the first-half. Didn't have too much to do. Went long a lot of times when the ball was at his feet.
Reece James - 6
Picked up an early booking that you could tell restricted him up against the dangerous Eze. Not his best match but he was strong in possession.
Josh Acheampong - 7
Big confidence shown by the manager to start the 19-year-old. Played in the central centre-back role, the one Enzo Maresca was so vocal about on Friday. He gave away the ball early on and it ended up being put in by Eze, although it was disallowed.
Acheampong grew into it, though, and it felt like a turning point just after the 30-minute mark when he produced a perfect crunching tackle on Daniel Munoz and got the Stamford Bridge faithful on their feet. His confidence grew from that and he looked much more assured.
Trevoh Chalobah - 6
Missed a huge chance to score against his former club on 30 minutes. Wasn't his best match but defensively he was solid.
Marc Cucurella - 6
Involved in all of the action down the left-hand side. Had a couple of shots from long range but didn't have the right boots on today.
Moises Caicedo - 7
All action, as usual. Nothing changes with this guy. A brilliant start to the new season.
Enzo Fernandez - 5
Fernandez was perhaps a bit quieter than usual. Chelsea were trying to get him involved, but not to much avail.
Pedro Neto - 6
Neto was bright as ever but without the end product, unfortunately. He caused Tyrick Mitchell problems all day down the Chelsea right but without hurting Palace too much.
Cole Palmer - 5
Palmer was so quiet in the first-half and you just felt his teammates needed to find a way to get him on the ball more. He was dropping deeper to get it in the second period but was unable to produce his magic at Stamford Bridge.
Jamie Gittens - 5
His first involvement showed exactly what he was all about - direct running at pace and eventually winning a corner. Tried really hard but unable to have much of an impact. Replaced on 54 minutes.
Joao Pedro - 5
Up against a very strong Palace defence. Quiet. Didn't see him touch the ball too much. Off on 73 minutes.
Substitutes
Estevao Willian (on for Gittens 54') - 7
Premier League debut for the 18-year-old. Took him seconds to showcase his ability, where he took on Guehi before whipping in a fine cross.
Liam Delap (on for Joao Pedro 73') - 6
Delap made his Premier League debut for the Blues. Brought on to try and find the winning goal but was unable to make the desired impact, scuffing his one real effort straight at Henderson.
Andrey Santos (on for Fernandez 79') - N/A
Huge chance to win it in stoppage time. Snatched at it, though, and it went over.
Malo Gusto (on for James 79') - N/A
Brought on perhaps with a slight concern over James being on a yellow.
