Dragons' Den legendput his hand in his pocket on Monday night as he chipped in to help an inspirational child's fundraising campaign.

Airing on this evening, thegot off to an emotional start with an inspiring and incredibly brave eight-year-old girl, who is helping others despite battling cancer and waiting for a lung transplant, honoured with a Child of Courage award at this year's Pride of Britain Awards.

was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia from a young age and is currently on the waiting list for a lung transplant. In a VT shown on ITV this evening, Florrie was surprised by her favourite pop star Perrie Edwards before being presented with her award on stage.

and then decided to give Florrie's fundraiser a bit of a boost as they shook down the star-studded audience and urged them to dig deep and donate. Businessman Duncan certainly did - giving a whopping £30,000 to Florrie's fund.

The Pride of Britain Awards had the stars welling up as they honoured the nation's unsung heroes on Monday evening. Celebrating its 25th year, the annual event is powered by public nominations that are whittled down to a shortlist before a panel selects the deserving winners.

The accolades span from Community Heroes and fundraisers to awe-inspiring children of courage and lifesavers. This year's triumphant individuals were celebrated at a gala dinner at London's Grosvenor House on Monday, with and Ashley Banjo at the helm for the fifth consecutive year.

A host of celebs, including favourites, Simon Cowell, and others graced the event, leaving not a dry eye in sight. The evening kicked off with a heartfelt homage to the late former editor Peter Willis, who passed away in 2021 at 54 and was the heart and soul of the awards he created.

Simon Cowell paid an intimate tribute to Peter, acknowledging his enduring legacy. Eight year old Florrie also captivated the crowd with her laughter and vitality, despite her fight against acute myeloid leukaemia and awaiting a lung transplant. Her infectious spirit shone through as Joel Dommett and Strictly’s Obi Mabuse, who handed her the Child of Courage award, told her: "You are one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met. You light up every room."
