Chelsea contacted by PFA over Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi after Enzo Maresca statement

Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi are being supported by the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) after being excluded from Chelsea's senior squad so far this season.

Both the attacker and defender, who signed for the Blues in 2022 and 2023 respectively, are currently training away from Enzo Maresca's main group. The boss has already confirmed they do not have a future at Stamford Bridge.

"They are Chelsea players, because they have a contract with the club. In this moment, they are still training apart. The idea is to continue in exactly the same way," said the Italian head coach.

"Since we started the season, I didn't see one of them. I didn't see Renato [Veiga, who has signed for Villarreal], I didn't see Axel, I didn't see Raheem, because they train at a different time on a different pitch. I haven't seen them since we started the season."

Asked if there was a way back into the fold for Sterling and Disasi, he bluntly replied: "With us? No."

As a result, multiple reports now suggest the PFA have contacted Chelsea, in an attempt to find a solution for the two players' futures.

Particularly, they are wary of the rules being followed. FIFA regulations state how making players train alone could be considered 'abusive conduct'.

Any player involved could have a right to serve notice and terminate their contract by citing 'just cause' as a reason to do so.

The PFA will work to make sure that Chelsea follow the rules and understand the position of both the club and the pair involved. England international Sterling still has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge; he spent last season on loan at Arsenal but was unable to secure a permanent exit this summer.

The 30-year-old posted a picture to Instagram earlier this week showing how he has to train in dark late at night, when the rest of Chelsea's squad are not in the building.

Meanwhile, Disasi has four years remaining on his contract. The 27-year-old spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan to Aston Villa and, like Sterling, did not find a permanent new home in turn.
