A note left by a cat’s owner warning about her dramatic tendencies has left people in stitches after it was shared on social media.
Left outside Icelandsupermarket on Penny Lane, Liverpool, the amusing letter reads: “Please do not feed the black and white cat. My name is Lili and I have a home on Kenyon Rd. I am an actress! I like attention! I like food! It is very kind of you but please stop feeding me because I will spend less time at home. Thank you!”
In the photo, sat next to the handwritten sign is Lili herself, a very beautiful and black and white who looked to be in no rush to leave her comfy and lucrative spot outside the shop.
Posted to Reddit the image and story quickly gained popularity with over 4,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments from people who had spotted the celebrity feline themselves. One user shared: “I met that cat a week or two ago, beautiful little thing and was watching birds from some shrubs along the side of the iceland. Came over to me for a few pets then went on its merry way.”
Another person added: “Same, she's very friendly but I think half the problem is she sits in places that make it look like she needs help. I don't think I would have stopped to stroke her and check she's okay if she'd been sat on top of the wall or on the grass, I would have just thought she was up to normal cat stuff.
“The last time I saw her she was sat in the middle of the path so you can't help notice her and think she might need help. The time before that she was loafing on a piece of cardboard like a homeless person, with several open, empty cans of cat food (presumably for change and dreamies). She IS an actress.”
Someone else penned: “I've had an encounter with her back in June! She tried to steal my chocolate and onion rings lol.” And a fourth user added: “The fact she’s sat right next to the sign, and doesn’t look like she’s rough housing it or missing a meal or two. I wonder if they have multiple signs in different places.”
News of Lili's dietary requirements come as it was recently revealed most aren't sure what do feed their pets. A poll of 1,000 cat owners revealed that 17% are unsure about their cat's dietary needs and how much they should be eating, with a further 23% admitting to the same.
Nearly one in three (29%) confessed they don't know the ideal weight for their cat, while 63% only have some confidence in their knowledge of their pet's overall health.
Sarah McNamara, a nutritionist from cat food brand , which commissioned the study, emphasised: "Understanding your cat's nutritional needs is essential for a long and happy life. Proper nutrition can prevent health issues like obesity, diabetes, and digestive problems."
