Mhow: The driver of an autorickshaw was booked on suspicion of transporting cow meat on Friday. After receiving a tip-off, members of social organisation caught the vehicle while it was about to cross the toll plaza of Umariya village at around 10:30 AM on Friday. They informed Kishanganj police, after which a team reached there, took the vehicle and driver, Moin Khan, 25, a resident of Kazi ki Chawl near Motimahal Talkies, into custody.
Police station-in charge, Kuldip Khatri, said that a case under sections of Madhya Pradesh Gauvansh Pratishedh Adhiniyam was registered and Moin was arrested. His autorickshaw and the meat were seized, and its sample was sent to the govt veterinary polyclinic in Mhow Janpad Panchayat office. Upon confirmation from the doctor, the section pertaining to cow slaughter was added to the FIR. The accused is being questioned and he will be produced in court on Saturday.
Veterinary Polyclinic in-charge, Dr Rakesh Singh Sisodiya said that it was cow meat.
About three months ago, a vehicle was seized in the area, carrying large quantity of cow meat. Three such seizures have been made in the area in the last year. TNN
